Daily Routine at Sunshine Kiddies Early Learning Centre

Here's what a typical day at the centre looks like for ages 6 weeks to 6 years

Sunshine Kiddies Opens Its Doors

6.30am

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunshine Kiddies Early Learning Centre! Upon arrival to the centre, please sign-in your child on the Ipad located in the foyer. You will be greeted by one of our very friendly staff members on arrival. We encourage parents to communicate and provide feedback on your child with their teachers at this time. Give your little sunshine a kiss and a hug goodbye and hand your child over with their bag or belongings for a wonderful day of learning and fun.

Breakfast

7.30am

Your child will then make their way to our different rooms based on age, where breakfast will be served at 7:30am. After breakfast your child has time to play and learn at their own pace, with the many interesting toys and activities set out in the room that we provide. Our educators will encourage your child to explore and discover their surroundings.

Daily Program Begins

8.00am

Family grouping will end and the older children in the room will transition into their own rooms. The Nursery and Toddlers room schedules their nappy changes accordingly every two hours, beginning from 8:00am. Children continue free play and exploration with their educators. The educators also begin to implement any planned daily experiences.

Morning Tea Time

9:00am

Your child has their hands cleaned by an educator to rid any germs before eating. Children who can eat solids will eat the morning tea from our menu. If your child requires a bottle the educator will confirm specific times for this.

Group Time

9.30am

After morning tea your child will be involved in a group time, where all the children are gathered in a group and an educator will do a planned experience. The group time allows for your child to learn curriculum areas and experience group work and activities. Group time often includes: project work, sensory play, music and movement, language and numbering, art and craft, sustainability practices, and story time. The NSW Health Initiative Munch & Move program is also incorporated at this time.

Lunch Time

11.30am

Your child will enjoy a hot nutritious meal from the menu or their own from home. If your child is not on solids, bottles can be given at specific times.

Sleep Time

12.30pm

It is now time for your child to have a rest. If you do not want your child to rest at this time, our educators will confirm specific rest times with you. We encourage our families to bring their own bed sheets or our own will be provided. Soft music plays in the background while he children sleep. Children who do not need or want to sleep at this time, can participate in quiet activities such as colouring or puzzles.

Afternoon Tea

2pm

The children will begin to wake up, and we will provide them with afternoon tea from the menu. If your child requires a bottle the educator will confirm specific times for this.

Learn & Play Afternoon Group Time

3pm

Educators implement both planned and spontaneous experiences at this time. If your child is not interested at this time then we will let them continue their spontaneous play. Some planned activities would include: Rhyme songs, repeating words or sentences and a quick review of what they have learned overall that day.

Late Afternoon Snack

4.30pm

It is time for your child to have a small nutritious late snack. If your child requires a bottle the educator will confirm specific times for this. Your child will continue their free play and engaged in some activities led by the educators.

Sunshine Kiddies Closes Its Doors

6pm

Now it is time to say goodbye! When you arrive, you will be greeted by an educator and given your child's belongings. You can sign-out on the Ipad and check your child’s daily information sheet for sleeps and food eaten. Throughout the day you will receive reports on meals, nappy changes, sleep records and get updates of your child’s day and observations via our Story Park App. Any questions or feedback is welcomed by our team at this time to assist with your child's progress and development.

Our Learning Environment

Children are welcomed into an atmosphere where they are free to explore each inviting corner. The centre is designed with children’s comfort and safety in mind. Rooms are fully air-conditioned and outdoor areas are shaded for sun-safety.
Educators create a learning program that excites and challenges children. Children’s individual interests inspire us to create new project focus' and engage in activities every day.
In the warm and welcoming environment we create, children feel free to express themselves, just as they would at home. Everyone is welcome and accepted at our centre.

Our Preschool Learning Environment

Children aged 4-5 years of age start to grow and develop. Their brain attention spans increase learning to numbers and letters which begin to become recognisable, and problems can be solved through play based learning. Improvements of social interactions and emotions are expressed more clearly through words, bonds of relationships with others are formed with educators and other children, and the enjoyment of achievement provides opportunities to become better successes.

School Readiness Program

We offer a School Readiness Program that is based on your child’s individual educational growth. The program is based on play-based learning alongside the Montessori program to allow teachers to expand and further develop a child’s skills in the specific areas of social interaction, physical skills, emotional development, play, language, literacy and fine motor skills. We encourage families to be involved in children's learning and support of our local schools and communities. We also encourage children to bring their own lunch boxes daily, so that they become familiar with what school lunch time will feel like. We recognise that these are all essential steps to a smooth transitioning to school and have no doubt the program will prepare your child for primary school.
